Ramadan is a month long period set aside for fasting and prayer by Muslim faithfuls the world over. As it ends this week and Eid el Fitr is celebrated many people will take well deserved breaks from Abuja or Lagos to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. There are cheap flights to Dubai, but if you can’t afford to take a break you can still have a great time feasting with family and friends .Let’s look at a few of the best places to eat Halal meals in the FCT.

City view restaurant: This restaurant located in Zone 4 boasts of an impressive continental and Lebanese menu. Like most Lebanese restaurants their cuisine is halal friendly and best of all their food is quite affordable. Try their array of soups served with bread, hummus or their chicken escalope which is amazing! Best of all their sister company is a bakery so you can cart off some fresh bread on your way home.

Dunes Restaurant: This upscale restaurant is located in the Dunes building in Maitama. It also has a more casual bistro style eatery on the ground floor so depending on whether you want a night of fine dining or a more casual affair Dunes has you covered. With a vast menu which also includes , yummy salads and mouth watering desserts you will be spoilt for choice.

Wakkis: This restaurant located in the ever bustling Wuse 2 is a foodies delight! Their Indian cuisine is very authentic and will leave you asking for more. While the restaurant setup is semi casual their menu is anything but casual. Try their delicious naan bread or their chicken biryani and you will certainly be back for more.

Shagalinku : Anyone who has lived in Abuja for over decade should know this laid back restaurant. While their cuisine mostly consists of tasty Hausa meals like Tuwo, Masa and Danwake its also very popular for it’s yoghurt. Sold in white kegs and always available Shagalinku yoghurt is creamy , sweet and can be served on its own or with a full meal. Shagalinku even has a section where you can sit down on the floor to enjoy your meal. Shagalinku is located in Garki and also has a bustling supermarket where you can buy provisions , dambu nama and other northern snacks.

Blu Cabana: This day resort is a lovely place for the family to relax over Salah with its lovely pool, childrens play center and modern gym. Their menu is quite extensive and their Pasta Alfredo is a personal favourite. It is located in Kado.

Tulip Bistro : This modern bistro is located near a food court just off Adetokunbo Ademola Wuse 2 and is always popular with millenials. Their salads are exceptional and always a favourite. I especially love their baby chicken served with mashed potatoes, yum!
