Yippee! I’m really excited about my first writing course. This course is more of a challenge as I task you to discover what writing niche will work best for you.
In this course we will talk about different niches so you can reflect on which niche or niches you are drawn to.
This course will only cost you about 20minutes of your time each day so go ahead and subscribe. Best of all this course is interactive as we can all learn little snippets from each other on how to improve our writing.

Home Work – Day 1
I love writing and I know I have a writing gift . I’ve written a few articles some I shared on my Facebook page others I just keep in my prayer journal. I know I need to develop this part of my life but haven’t just given it enough time and attention . I would very much like to share this gift with others .
I feel this course will help give me the much needed push for me to come out of comfort zone . And hopefully at the end of it I would have discovered my writing niche .
Homework Day 2
Eish this homework is a tough one …why ? because I don’t really read the papers and I don’t follow the news . I know I should, at least to keep abreast of what is going on around me ,but I never make the time to ..hopefully I will turn a new leaf .
Since am in Zimbabwe I will write on an incident that made headlines last week .
The death of 16 members of the same family who died in a car crash around 10pm on their way to their rural home to bury their teenage son who had died days before .
The culture surrounding death and burials in Zimbabwe is different from what takes place back home in Nigeria . When there is a death in a family in Zimbabwe immediately everyone is contacted and they literally drop whatever they are doing and head to a designate place for the “gathering ” no matter what time of day it is . So a relative can pass on in Harare and other relative all over Zimbabwe will make their way to Harare that very same day, some will travel 5 to 12 hours depending on where they are coming from
Burial usually takes place within three to four days .Now in recent times due to the condition of the roads there have been more accidents and loss of lives of people who died on their way to or from a funeral . Mostly they were all traveling at night .
Even though people are aware of the risks involved with these travels ,it does not stop them .
For me it shows how powerful cultures have a hold on people …wouldn’t it make sense to travel when it’s safe to do so than risk lives of the living over that of the dead… No culture demands that they travel whenever and however . A prominent Pentecostal Pastor died on the spot in car crash and his wife was seriously injured , the crash happened around midnight they were on their way to a funeral.
Is culture for our good ..or let me put it this way , if a certain cultural practice is turning out not to be favorable will the world end is we change it .

DAY 1:
I see Ndidi’s reason and mine is like totally opposite:)
I would like to discover my writing niche especially because I do not like writing but yet I believe there is so much I want to say to the world and I need to learn to write to do this.
I believe the faintest pen (or print) is better than the sharpest memory. And so I want to develop the writer in me, a day at a time, however long it takes.
I love this Adun! Everyone has a message to share and writing is the best way to share your unique message with the world. All the best as you develop your skills.
Day 1: WHY I WANT TO WRITE
I want to speak, I want to be heard, I want to create. I have so much to say and that’s why I want to write. However, I am a very lazy writer and I never believe that what I write is good enough, hence this short course. I know somewhere inside me there is a Florence Nwapa, or a Chimamanda Adiche awaiting to be awoken and I believe that this five days course can awake the “sleeping writer”.
Taking this course is a step to actualising my dream.
Thanks for subscribing to the course! Writing is one of the easiest ways to get your “voice” and message out there. A lot of writers have moments of self doubt but is important to believe you are good and that the more your write the better you will become. Learn from your mistakes and keep writing.
